Arachidylalkohol

INCI-Bezeichnung: Arachidyl Alcohol

Origin

Arachidyl Alcohol is a long-chain fatty alcohol that occurs naturally in vegetable oils – especially in peanut oil (Arachis hypogaea) and other vegetable fats. For cosmetics, it is predominantly obtained from sustainable plant sources or produced biotechnologically.

Production

It is obtained by hydrogenating fatty acids from vegetable oils. The result is a soft, waxy substance that is ideal as an emulsifier and texture enhancer in skincare products.

Effect on the Skin

  • Emollient and smoothing: Arachidyl Alcohol softens the skin and gives it a velvety texture.
  • Supports the skin barrier: As a fatty alcohol, it supplements the skin's natural lipid layer and reduces moisture loss.
  • Stabilizes emulsions: It improves the texture and stability of creams and lotions.
  • Well-tolerated: Unlike short-chain alcohols, Arachidyl Alcohol is not drying and is well-tolerated by the skin.

Suitable for Which Skin Type

Suitable for all skin types, especially recommended for dry and sensitive skin.
