Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Palmitate / Ascorbic Acid)

INCI name: Ascorbic Acid / Ascorbyl Palmitate

Origin

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is an essential vitamin found naturally in many fruits and vegetables – especially in citrus fruits, rose hips, and bell peppers. For cosmetics, vitamin C is primarily synthesized through the fermentation of plant-based raw materials. There are various forms: pure ascorbic acid (Ascorbic Acid) and stabilized derivatives like Ascorbyl Palmitate, which is fat-soluble and particularly stable.

Production

Ascorbic Acid is produced through biotechnological fermentation. Ascorbyl Palmitate is created by combining ascorbic acid with palmitic acid (from plant sources), resulting in a more stable, fat-soluble form that is particularly well-suited for incorporation into creams and serums.

Effect on the skin

  • Brightening: Vitamin C inhibits melanin production and reduces hyperpigmentation for a more even, radiant complexion.
  • Anti-aging: It stimulates collagen production and reduces visible wrinkles and lines.
  • Strong antioxidant: Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals and protects the skin from UV damage and environmental stress.
  • Regenerating: It supports wound healing and promotes skin renewal.

Suitable for which skin type

Suitable for all skin types, especially recommended for hyperpigmentation, dull skin, and mature skin.
