Essential Oil

INCI name: Depending on the plant, e.g., Lavandula Angustifolia Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil

Origin

Essential oils are highly concentrated, volatile compounds extracted from various parts of plants – flowers, leaves, bark, roots, or fruits. Each plant produces a unique oil with specific properties. Well-known examples include lavender oil, rose oil, tea tree oil, and bergamot oil.

Production

Extraction is mainly carried out by steam distillation or cold pressing (for citrus fruits). At COSMENIA, only high-quality, nature-identical or certified organic essential oils are used.

Effect on the skin

  • Soothing and balancing: Many essential oils, such as lavender, have a calming effect on irritated skin.
  • Antioxidant: They protect the skin from oxidative stress and free radicals.
  • Antibacterial: Certain oils, such as tea tree oil, have antibacterial properties and help with blemished skin.
  • Aromatic: They give products a natural, pleasant scent without synthetic fragrances.

Suitable for which skin type

Suitable for various skin types depending on the oil. For very sensitive skin, individual tolerance should be checked.
