Jojoba Oil

INCI name: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil

Origin

Jojoba oil is extracted from the seeds of the jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinensis), which is native to the deserts of North America and Mexico. Botanically, jojoba oil is not an oil but a liquid wax – making it very similar to the natural sebum of human skin. This unique property makes it one of the most valuable plant oils in cosmetics.

Production

The oil is obtained by cold pressing jojoba seeds. This gentle process preserves all natural active ingredients and provides a stable, oxidation-resistant oil.

Effect on the skin

  • Regulating: Jojoba oil regulates the skin's sebum production – it moisturizes dry skin while helping to reduce excessive sebum production in oily skin.
  • Skin-identical: Its structure resembles natural sebum, which is why it is particularly well absorbed.
  • Non-comedogenic: It does not clog pores and is ideal for blemish-prone skin.
  • Antioxidant: The high vitamin E content protects the skin from free radicals.

Suitable for which skin type

Suitable for all skin types – especially valuable for oily, blemished, and sensitive skin.
