Origin
Rose extract is obtained from the petals of various rose species – most commonly from the Damask rose (Rosa damascena), which is mainly cultivated in Bulgaria, Turkey, and Iran. The rose is one of the most valuable plants in cosmetics and has been prized since antiquity for its skin-caring and soothing properties.
Production
The extract is obtained by steam distillation or extraction of the rose petals. The resulting rose water and rose oil are rich in flavonoids, vitamins, and etheric compounds.
