Shea Butter

INCI name: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter
Origin
Shea Butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa), which is native to the savannas of West Africa. It has been used for centuries by people in Africa for skin and hair care and is considered one of the most valuable vegetable fats in the world. The production of Shea Butter is often an important economic sector for women in West Africa.
Production
The butter is obtained through cold pressing or traditional manual processing of the shea nuts. Raw, unrefined Shea Butter retains all natural active ingredients and has a characteristic, slightly nutty scent.

- Moisturizing: It forms a protective film on the skin and prevents moisture loss.
- Anti-inflammatory: The triterpenes it contains have a soothing effect on irritated and inflamed skin.
- Antioxidant: The high vitamin E content protects the skin from free radicals.
